Vintage Bezel Set Diamond Engagement Ring

The Bethany Ring is a bezel set diamond engagement ring from the Edwardian era circa 1910! This stunner centers an amazing 1.52 carat old European cut diamond of F color, SI1 clarity! The diamond is set in a platinum bezel setting with a double row of millegrain highlighting! To each side are 3 single cut diamonds set in leaf-shaped accents that combine for a total of 0.06 carats. The ring is size 6.5 and can be resized!

WHY WE LOVE IT

The diamond is extraordinarily white and bright at F color! It has the perfect chunkiness of an old European cut diamond, combined with the super fine texture of the double row millegraining around the stones and the lovely, feminine shapes of the leaves. This bezel set diamond engagement ring is simply gorgeous with definite Edwardian and floral themes!

THE AMAZING BEZEL SETTING

The bezel setting is one of the most classic designs in jewelry, predating the prong setting first popularized by Tiffany & Co in 1886. Often found in signet rings, the bezel setting features an elevated collar that holds the stone in place. Bezel set engagement rings are the most secure setting and offer superior protection for the stone!

The Bethany ring is a perfect example of the bezel setting at its best. The setting showcases the wide surface of the stone and brings the ring together, placing the center diamond in line with the adjacent floral accents and creating a sense of balance. Without raising the stone, the bezel holds the center diamond like water in a bowl, allowing for some truly stunning light play across the facets while maintaining a low profile.

EDWARDIAN ERA STYLE

Named after Britain’s King Edward VII, the Edwardian period was brief but distinct, dating from approximately 1901-1914. Situated between the more reserved Victorian era and the First World War, the Edwardian era is characterized by garden parties, luxury, and nostalgia. Edwardian style was influenced by Art Nouveau and La Belle Epoque, replacing the large, ostentatious jewelry of the Victorian period with garland styles, such as the floral accents in the bezel set Bethany engagement ring.
